Aurita Bioscience to Launch Darcy Plate® 3D Culture System at BioFlorida Innovation Conference 2024
Gainesville, FL –
November 11, 2024 – Aurita Bioscience, a leader in 3D cell culture solutions, is proud to announce its participation in the
BioFlorida Innovation Conference, taking place November 18-20 at the Walt Disney World Swan, Lake Buena Vista, FL. This annual industry event is a convergence point for leaders, researchers, and innovators in the life sciences sector across Florida.
At the conference, Aurita Bioscience will launch the latest advancements in 3D cell culture, emphasizing the company’s revolutionary
Darcy Plate® 3D culture ecosystem. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Aurita’s team, explore innovative solutions, and discuss potential collaborations that can significantly accelerate advancements in research and drug development. Aurita welcomes and regularly supports collaboration with academic and industry researchers in fields such as oncology, infectious disease, and cell-based therapy.
The
Darcy Plate® 3D culture ecosystem revolutionizes the study of life in miniature by leveraging perfusion, or the flow of liquid culture media, through Aurita’s patented 3D growth medium:
Liquid-Like Solids (LLS®). This breakthrough emulates the physiological transport dynamics which occur in capillary beds, resulting in prolonged sample viability, decreased dependency on complex and expensive media and the retention of microtissue function. By utilizing Aurita’s ecosystem of 3D culture plates and microscope tools, researchers can now achieve passive perfusion in 3D and manipulate cells of interest - such as microtumors/tissues, organoids, immune cells (e.g., motile T-cells) or metastatic cancer cells - all while being able to seamlessly image and quantify results. Perfusion can be suspended to establish diffusion-controlled concentration gradients, and individual cells participating in events of particular interest can be retrieved.
“Aurita Bioscience offers a suite of products that give researchers novel and disruptive capabilities and that open up possibilities for groundbreaking personalized therapies.” said Dr. Greg Sawyer, Aurita’s Founder and Chair of the Department of Bioengineering at Moffitt Cancer Center and the Keynote Speaker for the 2023 BioFlorida Innovation Conference.
Darcy Plate® culture systems support extended culture of a variety of samples through passive perfusion, or the flow of liquid cell culture media through the permeable Liquid-Like Solid (LLS®) 3D culture medium. LLS® mediums mimic a capillary bed by providing interconnected fluid channels throughout the soft hydrogel particle bed. These channels facilitate perfusion while also creating spaces for cellular migration and growth. These properties make LLS® ideal for a variety of applications, including both metabolically active high-density cell cultures and Aurita's In Vitro ImmunoTherapy Assays (iVITA™). Aurita’s latest design, the 24-Well Darcy™ imaging insert, expands on these capabilities by integrating an optically transparent microporous membrane. Now, samples are readily observable through the coverslip, enabling a host of exciting in situ imaging-based assays. Future expansions of the product line include a 48-well Darcy ™ Imaging Plate for higher throughput, and a standard single-well culture dish format.
